World Service 2015-2016 Project Status

Funded projects

When the World Service Committee votes to approve funding, the organization and fund level are documented below.

  • Bombali-Shebora Chiefdom Sierra Leone Commercializing Cassava as a Poverty-Reduction Strategy ($2000 commitment on Sept 21, 2015)
  • Pasochoa Ecuador Water Project ($5000 commitment on Sept 21, 2015)
    • Teaming with the Los Chillos Milenio Rotary Club
    • Pasochoa Water Project Detailed Description
    • Waiting on ESPE (the military technical university) feasibility study.  Expected by end of November.
    • $17.5K of the $20K funds raised that is needed to match the $20K District 5400 Designated Funds (DDF).  This $40K will then by match by The Rotary Foundation (TRF) $30K meaning District 5400 will contribute $70K of the $122K needed by the project.  Other districts will be contribute the rest.
  • Rotary Club of Quito Occidente (District 4400) sponsoring a new microcredit project serving the Esmeraldas Province and the Amazon
    • USA Contact: Keith Axtell
    • $2220 commitment on Dec 7th, 2015
    • Marianne Barker indicated if the grant is approved in a timely manner, District 5400 will match the $2220 (email dated 12/28/15)
  • Semilla Nueva – nutrition project using quality protein maze and short-duration rice ($13,900 from club fund raising, $32,561 total raised, grant total $113,963)
    • International club – Boise Downtown (Kara Rouselle)
    • Fund raising complete – focus on getting Global Grant approved
